Freezing rain morning y'all.  30F, a little sleet and snow overnight, but it has been mostly a very light, freezing rain that has coated everything.  City and county offices and courts are closed, state and federal offices and courts opening 2 or 3 hours late, a multitude of businesses closed, schools and universities are closed today.  The forecast for today calls for the freezing rain to end by 0900, then cloudy skies and a high of 32F, so not much melting.  Tonight, temperatures drop to 30F and a chance for more freezing rain through noon Saturday, when temperatures finally hit 34F.  Rain Saturday afternoon expected to turn to freezing rain Saturday night as temperatures fall to 31F.  Freezing rain Sunday morning, changing to rain Sunday afternoon as temperatures hit 39F and hopefully stay above freezing as rain showers are expected to continue into Tuesday.

I hate winter.

Morning all. -8F under clear skies with a -28F wind chill. 2 inches of snow fell yesterday afternoon/evening. Expect a quiet morning with clouds increasing throughout the day. A few light snow showers will be possible this afternoon before the bulk of our next system pushes in late tonight. The majority of the snow looks to fall overnight but could linger through the morning on Saturday. Eastern Iowa could see between 1-3″ of snow from this system. High today of 3F.

Temperature never made it to 32F, stayed 30F all day, light, freezing drizzle all morning.  Managed to chisel the ice and snow off of my CR-V this afternoon.  New calls for temperatures to remain 30F overnight, freezing rain from midnight to noon Saturday, potentially 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch of freezing rain accumulation.  Broken tree limbs and downed power lines are expected.  Oh, joy. <_<
