The Dude
Read my mind Doug. Think I saw that guy on a coin somewhere too... Schat, You probably saw Gavia immer, or the "Common Loon" that appears on our $1 coin, affectionately called a "Loonie." The Canada Goose, (Branta canadensis), pictured above, resides on our "silver" dollar coin. This coin is more of a collectible and is not in regular circulation, although they do pop up on occasion. [Cue eery flute music that every Canadian over the age of 30 grew up hearing in those Hinterlands Who's Who PSA tv commercials.] For more information on Canadian waterfowl, please visit Hinterlands Who's Who. mane_raptor
A few years back I went down with a buddy to Cape Cod to play some early spring golf and the golf courses down there were covered with geese and there droppings. You had to clean your clubs after every shot. Couple of times I could have taken my 5 iron to those beasties. Who the hell wants to inprove your lie under those conditions.
