Opps Raptor falls over

Better'n plan B, yanking the handles.

All kinds of quirky things happen with most jets on preliminary deployments. Maintenance folks have been known

to do things that the designers never dreamed of.

Disturbing, yes, but not terribly. A TCTO will be issued fairly quickly, I am sure...

Stans, the goobs that hang out at this site hang on every screw up they can find in the military. Pock 'em. They wouldn't know squat about what they see, and like one guy in the blog posted,

Lets clear up a few things...

1. The Ejection seat in the F-22 is capable of Zero/Zero ejections. That is zero feet and zero speed.

2. The ejection sequence is fully automated, not a two step process. The canopy is ejected via explosive bolts while in flight. At low speed, or with weight on wheels it is not.

3. The seat has a canopy breaker. This will shatter the canopy during the first stage of the ejection process. However, the seat and pilot are then boosted via a small rocket through the canopy. This is painfull and can be fatal.

4. When the rocket fires, the cockpit will essentially be destroyed. EVERYTHING will need to be pulled, checked, and replaced. The airframe will have to be checked for airworthyness. Lots of other stuff will need to be done to ready this aircraft for flight. Way more expensive than a canopy.

5. You Russian guys who believe that the F-22 is not stealthy, not maneuverable, and not hands down 5000% better than any other fighter in the world are making me laugh uncontrollably.

Have a Bandit day!

Personally, I'll send that squadron of Raptors up against the best squadron of SU-33, or 35, or Eurofighter, or any other aircraft in the world. Between a great fighter, built by the best of American tech, and flown by the best fighter jocks in the world, those Raptor jocks would go through the OPFOR like the man did the monkey.

Bumer for this thing. Funny junk goes down all the time with new military weapons. Just be happy that it was not a hand held weapon. I once had a Barret hangfire in my shoulder during some testing of new rounds. A few very tense moments.

Good to go then! Send them over to Iran and lets take care of that problem once and for all. ;)

Cyc, I would believe that would be a no. Not for the time being. Even being a close ally, they don't get the latest "bloc" on the 15 or 16 as soon as our own forces get it. They are usually a couple blocs behind. Unless of course they are paying memebers of the project and I'm not sure about that.
