Spectre_USA
External power supply? How cool is that? Someone should have thought of this sooner! Ya wanna keep the heat away from the precious heat making CPU? Take it outside! As they say in those goofy Guiness commercials, "Brilliant!" And this SevenTeam looks like a good one. Pricey? A bit, but if the Antec in my recently RMA'd Aspire case dies agan, I'm gettin' one of these goodies. Thanks muchly for the heads up Donster, I can write off the time spent here at work as "research"...
Stans
It might be a better mouse trap, but I'm not convinced. Hot air rises and the PSU is usually placed in the very top of the case. PSU's usually have two 80mm or one 120mm fan that draws air from inside the case and propels it out through the PSU. So in theory, a PSU outside the case will be drawing cooler air, but now you have lost an exhaust fan at the top of your case, so you may be adding an additional fan. Plus, you now have something big sitting on the top of the case, taking up space and possible in an area where it can get knocked off the case. I think I'll stick to my internal supply, at least for the time being and let others be the guinea pigs for this idea.
Donster
Wouldn't take much to add a 120mm case fan in the PSU's place, solving that problem. Thanks muchly for the heads up Donster, I can write off the time spent here at work as "research"... You are welcome Speccers. If that PSU in the Aspire dies again (I predict it will) many standard PSU's will work. I put one in Lottie's to replace the original Aspire's. The Dude
I just watched that Wings of Power II trailer. The planes look excellent (to my untrained eye), but I can't help asking the question: what is the bloody point? An entire collection of beautiful, authentic-looking, great sounding WWII fighters...but without guns! It's like a owning a Ferrari but you can't drive it...like a hot dog without a bun (someone, please help me find a better metaphor!). Maybe, just maybe, there will be a CFS4, eh? Still, the civ sim guys will appreciate this add-on as the planes do look great and the package comes with some nice poster-sized prints of each plane's specs. C'mon MS, do us combat simmers a solid and make us a Made-In-North-America WWII sim that'll kick the one and only other "other" sim's butt

Stans
Of all the software makers out there, MicroSoft has more resources at its disposal than any other. If MS wanted to make the best, most realistic, most immersive and massive combat flight sim, they could. They just have to have the desire and the knowledge that they will see a great return on such a financial investment and therein lies the rub. They can sell far more console games than they will ever sell full blown, full realism combat flight sims. I see only a few issues with MS using FS2004 or perhaps FSX as the basis of an incredible combat flight sim. 1. AI wingmen and opponents 2. Damage modeling 3. Working weapons and their associated physics 4. Off line campaign 5. On line connectivity with some method of preventing flight model cheating MS has dropped the ball on all 5 counts in their previous combat flight sims.
