mane_raptor
Morning All......... Not sunny here, Jay, not by a long shot. Cold, rainy and misty, with a cold NORTH wind. Damn near got flooded out this weekend, I got gullies in the driveway that you almost need a rope and pike axe to get to the bottom of. And this 1s the week I planned on re-painting the deck, but according the local weathet guy, the Weather Channel, Weather.Com, NOAA, and my right knee that will not be a'happin now. Got a question for all you handy-dandy home improvement-type guys. Thinking of buying an electric miter saw. I plan on building a set of 4 large (8 ft x 4 ft) storm window flats later this summer and then re-doing the moulding in the living room and kitchen over the fall/winter, so I want get something that is flexable in what it can do. Anybody had any experience with one and can make a recommendation? (Yea, Doug. I know. A bit "away" from the combat nature of this fourm, but hey, it's about "power tools" and what Combatsimian don't love "power tools", eh? )
No105_Archie
The best rig nowadays (IMO) is the combination mitresaw (we call 'em chop saws) with the short radial arm combo. Not only does the saw swing around a pivot it also has a limited amount of radial travel. This allows you to cut much larger stock without having to have a huge and unwieldy blade. You can also get "way cool" lazer blade markers as well. And...next to your own airplane what could be more cool than a power saw with a lazer beam on it

I like the idea of being able to cut the larger stock without using a huge blade. I'm leaning twards a laser marking saw anyways.
