Morning All............

Fog........and I mean heavy fog today............can't see the bottom of the field in front of the house. Everything outside is soaking wet, but at least it hasn't rained in the past 12 hours.

Speaking of the field, I talked with the former owner last night who has informed me that he sold it to a guy from Las Vegas from 120K and the guy plans to buils a couple of large houses on it. So the view on the lake I've had for the past 20 years might be changing. :(

120k? how many acres... sorry to hear about the possible view change. I loved that view..

11+ acres total. I talked with several real-estate folks and town assessors that were familar with the land and they all agreed that the value of the land was in the 20-22k range. I offered him 25k back when he first offered it to me, but he wanted at least 100K, so that ended that. We have had a lot of out-of-state'rs buying up homes and land here in the past few years for high prices. The result is an increase in property value and an increase in taxes that is driving out many of the natives.

Sorry to hear that Mane. Your view was magnificent!

Thanks Don, yea I know. It may not change all that much. It depends on where the guy builds the houses. Marilyn and I are thinking that he may not build one in front of us simply beacuse it would be tough to sell a house that has our house looking into that houses's back windows. We're thinking of buying a telescope to put on the deck as a subtle hint.

One thing that I do know. If he builds more than one house (John said he was planning on building two), he'll need sub-development approval from the town's planning board, and under state law, as an abutter we must be notified of the hearing and allowed to look over his plans, etc. Now if he choose to build a driveway/road to these houses, then most logical place would be the opening directly in front of our house across the road. Since my property line goes from the corner by the apple tree down the road some 300 ft and right close to the folks below me on the same side, he'll have to get an agreement from me to cross "my property". So I might have a bit of leverage with him when it comes to where he does place the houses.
